Sugar Free Eggnog Recipe
Eggnog is a holiday staple in many homes. It is not surprising, as it is a rich and creamy drink that screams it is time for the holidays. For many years we bought eggnog in the store, however since going low carb that is not an option, I have yet to find an eggnog in the store that was not loaded with sugar. Thankfully making a homemade sugar free eggnog is super easy to do!

If you are sticking to a keto diet, you will be happy to know that this sugar free eggnog recipe is also a keto eggnog. You can enjoy this tasty homemade eggnog while sticking to keto with out feeling bad about enjoying it!
Many eggnog recipes include sugar which is not ok when you are on a low carb or keto diet. Not this one. But even without sugar you will have an amazing and rich eggnog that is perfect for enjoying during the holidays.
Tips for Making this Recipe
Strain the eggnog. If you don’t like the texture of the spices in your egg nog you can strain it into a cheesecloth to give it a smoother texture.
Cool completely. Allow the eggnog to cool overnight and the flavors to fully combine.
Powdered sweetener is a must. You can use Powdered swerve or Powdered Monkfruit or your favorite. I have only tested it with swerve and monkfruit but I would think others would work too.
Sugar Free Eggnog Ingredients
- 4 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup powder erythritol – Powdered swerve or Powdered Monkfruit
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How to Make Sugar Free Eggnog
In a small pot whisk together the egg yolks and the erythritol until well combined.
In another small pot bring the heavy cream, almond milk, nutmeg, and cinnamon, to a boil over medium high heat.
Once the cream mixture comes to a boil remove the cream off the heat. Slowly whisk in a quarter of a cup of the mixture into the egg yolks making sure you are constantly stirring the egg yolks to prevent them from coagulating.
Place the pot back over medium heat, making sure you keep stiring until the mixture has thickened up about 10 to 15 minutes and the mixture has reached 160ºF.
Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the mixture to cool then place it in the fridge overnight to allow the flavors to combine.

One small thing: The directions don’t say to add the mixture back to the pot after tempering the egg yolks. But this looks like a great recipe! I like that it’s thick and creamy like the store-bought stuff, and no raw eggs in the final product. I’ll definitely be trying it.
